We are a family of four who absolutely enjoy the magic of Christmas and hope to share our joy with others. We started this hobby by watching these shows ourselves as a family tradition, and now we can share this with our community! Our show is made of eight thousand individual lights, five controllers, a raspberry pi, and so many different props! We take pride in our custom construction of our props, whether completely from scratch or based on other works.
In 2020, we migrated to smart pixels for half of our show, our windows, garages, pillars, and roof outline.
We focused heavily on sequencing more of our songs and added more effects! We also changed our tree trunk to have LED lights instead of rope light.
We added four new LED snowflakes on the first floor roofline and changed our windows and garage doors to use dumb RGB lights.
In our first year, we used rope light on our roof outline and windows and garages. Much of our show's props were single-colored lights.
There are three main stages of our display's yearly progression to showtime: Design, Develop, and Display. We deeply enjoy the puzzle that is the roadmap to our eventual display.
Starting in Late January or Mid-February, we beginning planning what new additions are coming to the next show. We draw these ideas out and list long-term goals we want to tackle.
One of our major facets in our show is our custom sequencing - in years past we programmed our shows ourselves. It takes about 20 days for one 4-minute song to be "show-ready."
Once everything has come together - props we have designed and sequences we've programmed - we construct the display, perform final tests, and launch our broadcast for all to enjoy in the winter season!
